Foxhound

For our first barge/canal holiday, this was an extremely easy way to start us off and I can say that after this experience the bug has bitten! From the booking to the pickup to the days on the boat and ultimately the drop off and check out - this was as easy as a holiday gets. The communication from the team at Foxhangers was top notch, not only with the approaching travel dates making sure that we had everything we needed, but to communication while on the canal around lock closures and recommendations on places to stop. The boat was lovely and more than enough space for six of us (four adults and two children) - although we did opt for a larger boat to get the space we wanted. While long, the boat was easy enough to handle for a complete novice... and the instructions given on boarding were more than sufficient to get us through the five days we had on the canal. We would highly recommend Foxhangers to anyone who asks - we look forward to the next canal trip and holiday.

We had a very enjoyable week on Foxhound which was the best canal boat that we have ever had. The internal layout & storage space was amazing. The two large fridges were a great advantage & enabled all the beers to be kept cool!! Foxhound was the first canal boat we have had with a bow thruster which made mooring & manoeuvring so much easier, especially in the very windy conditions we had for the last few days. The information book & handover were excellent, giving detailed instructions on all the equipment on the boat, route information & recommended canal side pubs. We negotiated the Bath Deep Lock & the River Avon, travelling with other Foxhangers boats through many of the locks. Next time it will be east up the Caen Hill locks!!

We stayed aboard the ‘Foxhound’ one of the bigger boats! There were 4 adults and 2 children under 5. The boat was amazingly kitted out inside and has been designed really well. It was also extremely clean and well looked after. Highly recommend, everything was really smooth when picking up the boat. Everyone had a great time, children & adults alike!

We Booked Foxhound canal boat for a week in March for the 7 of us and a little dog It was the first time for our Daughter, partner and 3 Grandsons They all had an amazing time And my wife who missed out last time. The boat was brill and the boys loved doing the locks I would like to thank Sharon and all the other staff at Foxhangers who were just brill at making our holiday so good Many thanks

We had a great short break with Foxhangers on board their very luxurious Foxhound boat. We were all beginners but were shown every element of how to handle the boat and also were shown how to navigate a lock, as Ray helpfully led us through the first two, which gave us confidence for the challenge ahead. Although we had originally planned to go west towards Bath, there was an issue with a lock and so we had to tackle the Caen Hill flight of locks from the get-go! We had a fantastic trip made so much better by all the fantastic facilities available on board. It felt like a floating hotel! The showers were hot, and we had plenty of communal space and areas to store food on board with two fridges and a freezer. It was very well equipped. Everything was extremely clean and well maintained. We contacted Ray part way through to ask questions and found him professional and extremely helpful. I would have no hesitation recommending Foxhangers as they have an amazing selection and quality of boats and made the entire process from booking to being on the boat an easy, relaxing and positive experience that exceeded our expectations.

Thanks to all involved. We loved our short break (3 nights) on 'Foxhound'. It was very well equipped. We were 4 adults, 2 children and 2 small dogs. Plenty of room. Very clean. The induction was very thorough - thanks for that. We were reassured that, if there was a problem, we could phone the office or out of hours number. This was stressed to us a few times and made us feel at ease - thanks for that as well 🙂. We wouldn't hesitate to book with Foxhangers again.

Everything about Foxhangers is 5 star. This was our first canal trip, and everything went very smoothly due to the fantastic website and helpful staff. We had to change our dates due to a family illness, and the office staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. We hired Foxhound for 4x couples and found it had everything we needed and more. We managed to get to bath and back over the Bank holiday weekend and stopped for Food and drinks at the Brewery Inn on our first and last night. The staff and locals were very friendly.

We had a brilliant 3 nights on our second holiday on Foxhound. The boat is perfect and all of us (6 adults and 2 children) thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We did the stretch between Foxhangers and the Dundas aqueduct which gave us lots to see along the canal and do with locks and swing bridges. We will definitely return. Thank you

We’re just back from a wonderful week on the Kennet and Avon Canal. We were really impressed with the Foxhangers boat and the service we received throughout the booking process and during our holiday. The ability to park right next to the boat and the time spent with us to familiarise us with the boat made the whole process stress free and straightforward. Everything was friendly and relaxed which got our holiday off to a great start. During our holiday we had a small issue with one of the toilets. Paul came out to help us in Bradford on Avon. He was on the scene quickly and had everything fixed in no time at all. The service was really excellent, as was the boat. The return this morning was very easy, friendly and relaxed - everything that you would want!

We had an amazing time — the whole experience was flawless from start to finish. Foxhound was a beautiful, spotless, and very well-equipped boat. The booking process was smooth and professional, with all the information we needed provided clearly in advance. A special thanks to Patrick for his outstanding briefing — it gave us the confidence to set off and enjoy our time on the water without any worries. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be back. Dear Foxhangers! Just to say we have had a wonderful few days on Foxhound. What a beautiful boat! Everything was clean for our arrival. Comfortable beds, great instructions on the locks etc. We had fun nights out at The Barge inn x 2 The George in Bradford upon Avon and Widbrook Grange …. All thoroughly recommended. Thank you again for another fabulous time spent on the Kennet & Avon, this time on Foxhound. The 3 Double beds, 2 fridges, 2 showers all make for a great week. We ventured East to Hungerford heading up the Caen Hill flight. The handover and safety brief from your team as always was comprehensive, helping us refresh our knowledge using the boat and the canal. Very much enjoyed our short break and very likely to come again for a longer holiday. Foxhound was a very well equipped narrow boat, comfortable accommodation and easy to handle the bow thruster came in useful at times!

I could not be more complimentary. The booking process was very well done, every possible detail was included to make sure we understood what was needed for any situation. Something got wrapped around the propellor and this was simply dealt with by referring to the manual. The boat was clean very well equipped and comfortable. The staff were great. We much enjoyed ourselves. Of course the weather was perfect, so we were pretty lucky in that respect. Well done! Regards to you all.

We booked a last minute short break on Foxhound and just wanted to thank you for all your help. This is a beautiful boat, well laid out and tastefully furnished. We had a fantastic holiday on Foxhound. We were impressed with having two fridges, with a extra pullout worktop in the Kitchen. Also in the bedroom with the TV this was well received, as well as the large Smart TV in the lounge area. The end double bedroom also was more practical than previous boats we had hired. The showers were wonderful no curtains to fight with, but a fixed shower door. Many thanks Foxhangers for looking after us so well.

Thank you for a great holiday! As seasoned boaters, we found your company outstanding in terms of ease of booking, information supplied before we came, and the warm welcome we received on arrival. Handover when we collected the boat and on our return to your base was a breeze. We chose your brand new Foxhound, and it is the best narrowboat we have ever hired. Everything we needed and more was onboard and we especially appreciated the bow thruster when we were turning around. Everything was spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. We have already started planning a return trip to explore the other direction. Thanks again to all involved.

12 of us have had an amazing short break on Foxhunter and Foxhound. Many first timers, under 25 who LOVED it. Thank you so much all at Foxhangers. We will be back!

There were 8 of us on Foxhound (3 couples and 2 children). The boat was perfect. In immaculate condition and very well equipped. We all had a brilliant time going between Foxhangers and the Dundas Aquaduct over 3 days. We will definitely do it again. Thank you. Sent from my iPhone

We had a brilliant week on Foxhound! After a warm welcome in reception and a very thorough briefing on the wharf for us beginners, we were off! This is a great holiday for all ages, especially on such a great boat! I loved the Bow Thruster and the light and airy interior. My wife loved the well equipped kitchen (including two fridge freezers!) My parents, who are less mobile these days, loved the outside seating area. My two children aged 8 and 11 loved getting involved with operating the locks, and waving at the passing boats. We all loved the relaxing pace of life and the beautiful scenery. I would highly recommend Foxhangers for great boats and great customer service. We will be back!

There were 21 of us across 3 boats Foxhound, Cunning Fox and Fox Talbot down to Bath and Back. Everyone loved it, great Weekend. We had a fabulous long weekend in April. The wind made for an adventurous trip. Boat was well equipped, comfortable and the hand over comprehensive from Patrick Had a nice meal @ The Barge, managed to moor right outside, great on a chilly April evening. We did a pirate day complete with skull & crossbones, with daily jobs picked out of a hat. Would love to do a longer trip. Thank you team
