Foxhangers Canal Holidays have been delighting customers since 1997 with our beautiful fleet of narrowboats and exciting holiday adventures.
Based directly on the stunning, historic, Kennet and Avon canal near Devizes, Wiltshire, we now seek an Accounts Assistant / Administrator to perform a range of payroll and bookkeeping functions, processing bookings and general administrative support across the business.
Based in our pleasant offices that have been converted from old farm buildings, this is a varied and interesting role working as part of a small flexible and dedicated team who are focused on providing great boating holiday experiences at Foxhangers.
Reporting directly into the Commercial Business Manager and with dotted line accountability to the Office and Accounts Manager, the role of the Accounts Assistant / Administrator is to perform a range of payroll and bookkeeping functions, processing bookings and general administrative support across the business.
Suited to someone with a numerical bias, you will be smart, organised, enjoy variety and developing your skills in a friendly and professional business.
Collating and checking weekly timesheets
Processing weekly payroll
Data input and accurate financial record keeping
Responsibility for Purchase Ledger & Sales Ledger using specialised accounting software to record and process all financial transactions
Providing administrative assistance to the senior managers
Assisting the Operations team with staff schedules, planning workloads and other project related work
Dealing with staff queries/issues and providing essential communication links between the housekeeping and office based teams
Ensuring housekeeping have the necessary supplies/resources
Dealing with general enquiries (telephone and email)
Processing bookings on the internal bookings system
Adhering to internal processes and procedures, ensuring excellent customer service
Recognised bookkeeping qualification or professionally trained and qualified by experience
Good level of English/Maths
Strong administrative/clerical background
Experience with accounting software
Excellent IT skills: Microsoft Office, Email, Internet.
Good communication skills – ability to communicate effectively at all levels
Ability to build effective working relationships throughout the business
Good organisational and time management skills/ability to prioritise effectively
Excellent telephone manner
Compliance with policies, procedures and standards
Experience of QuickBooks
Experience of inhouse software and systems/databases
Friendly and approachable – able to build effective working relationships with staff
Professional, thorough with great attention to detail and quality
Highly organised with ability to balance multiple tasks
Calm and able to work to tight deadlines
Job Type: Permanent, all year round
Salary: £11.00-£12.50 per hour
