We have enjoyed another fantastic year during which we were delighted to welcome back many regulars, some who have been staying with us for many years, as well as many new to canal boating. Thorough tuition by our Handover Team ensures that novices get the most from their canal adventure.
It was especially pleasing to welcome so many overseas guests now that travel restrictions have been lifted worldwide following all the pandemic lockdowns.
As always, our guests included couples, groups of friends, families, and several multi-generational groups.
In 2023, we welcomed 2,587 guests. This included 1,989 adults, 340 teenagers & children and 258 four legged guests.
There was a lot of excitement when we were awarded a prestigious TripAdvisor Award placing us in the top 10% of attractions worldwide based on guest reviews. It is proudly hung in our office.

Our fantastic Boat Building team have delivered another exceptional holiday hire boat in time for the 2024 season. With many addtional features we believe ‘Foxhound’ is above and beyond the average hire boat, available from March 2024 for weekly and short break hire on Mondays and Fridays.

Familiar Faces – ITV This Morning Live Broadcast from Wily Fox
June saw us a team up with ITV’s This Morning programme, in the midst of the Phillip Schofield ‘furore’ we were delighted to enjoy the extra exposure. The hilarious presenter Josie Gibson enjoyed a few days along the Kennet & Avon Canal whilst striking up a great on screen connection with our star ‘Captain Dave’!
With a dozen or so segments broadcasting live on ITV, our phones did not stop ringing all week thanks to Josie’s glowing comments and complimentary description of Wily Fox, our 5-8 berth holiday hire boat.
