‘IT’S the best method of forced relaxation,’said my new friend Sarah, as our boats gently bumped against each other in the lock. We were three days into our week-long journey along the Kennet and Avon Canal and I knew exactly what she meant. Living on a narrow-boat - and travelling in it - is one of the most tranquil holidays you can experience. Everyone you meet - such as people like Sarah, who we learned had owned a narrow-boat for nine years and spent at least two months of the year exploring the K&A - is unfailingly friendly and helpful, and you’re all operating at a slower pace than normal.
Following the successful launch of Lazy Fox in 2015, her sister boat, Wily Fox is almost complete and on schedule for launch in February 2016.
Like her sister boat, Wily Fox is finished to a very high specification, being luxuriously appointed and fitted out with Maple and Cherry woods and American Walnut floors. She also features central heating, a full size domestic oven with four gas rings, a microwave, a full size domestic under-the-counter fridge, 240v electrical system and two showers and toilets, making her ideal for larger families.
We value our customer feedback and many people indicated that the traditional layout of a narrowboat had its drawbacks. Our skilled design team took this into account and Wily Fox has been designed with a reverse layout, meaning that the helmsman is no longer isolated from the rest of the crew.
The bedding arrangements are very flexible with one fixed double cabin, a second fixed cabin that can accommodate either a double bed or two single beds with a third single bunk that can be folded away when not required. This versatile cabin can also be converted to a secondary TV/Games lounge, created by simply revolving one of the single beds to transform into a desk complete with TV. In addition, there is also both a make-up double bed and a make-up single bed in the saloon area.
Lazy Fox had an enormously successful first season, selling out for almost the entire hiring period; we anticipate Wily Fox will follow suit, with bookings selling out fast.
